Prophecy
About this Workshop
When people place a Bible passage in context, they generally focus on the background, when was thins? Who wrote it? And how does it connect?
What about the foreground? Not just seeking to imagine its historical context, but its present context if we ourselves were to enter the narrative. Prophecy is about foretelling or forthtelling, it's about the present and sometimes the future. So let's take a deep breath and launch into an aspect of the Book of Revelation.

Ingredients
access to Revelation 4
some blank paper and pens
an alternative way of taking notes
The Activity
Step 1
Read Revelation 4. Plan to read it through just the once but not overly quickly.
Step 2
Now. Close your Bible or turn off your app.
Step 3
With a piece of blank paper, from memory, draw the scene in heaven. Take your time. Oh, and relax, the quality of your art is not the purpose of the exercise.
Step 4
Now return to Revelation 4. In regards your doodle, what did you remember? What did you omit? What was fairly accurate to the text, and what was completely missed or misinterpreted?
Step 5
Ponder (prayerfully) what you easily recalled compared to that you had ignored. Apart from your memory, do you 'sense' any spiritual reasons for these inclusions or omissions.
Step 6
In your spiritual routine make Revelation 4 a regular stop-off. Don't be a stranger to God's Throne Room, or to the songs that are repeatedly sung in His presence. Perhps you need to remind yourself of the two songs - go on, read them again.
